Julii is expected to open at North Bethesda’s Pike & Rose next week, possibly Nov. 28 or Nov. 29, becoming the latest addition to the group of restaurants owned by the founders of Cava.
Co-owners Ted Xenohristos, Ike Grigoropolous and Dimitri Moshovitis announced the creation of the French-Mediterranean restaurant in November 2017. They hired executive chef Sasha Felikson in June, but are a few months behind the restaurant’s previously announced plan of a September opening.

The restaurant will be positioned in Rose Park between L.L. Bean and Pinstripes at 11915 Grand Park Ave. Xenohristos said Tuesday Julii still must pass a few inspections by Montgomery County agencies, but he expects it to open next week. If inspections aren’t finalized by Thursday, a weekend opening would be a strong possibility, he said.
The “all-day café” will begin mornings serving as a coffee shop and bakery, and then transition to offering lunch fare, followed by dinner service beginning around 5 p.m., Xenohristos said. Felikson is still finalizing the menu, which Xenohristos said will focus on Mediterranean dishes just as much as French cuisine.
“It will have a French focus, but it won’t be your traditional French restaurant,” Xenohristos said. “We were going for the feel of a French brasserie bistro.”
He added the offerings will include French dishes such as roasted chicken and trout but also include dishes from different parts of the Meditarranean, especially the Levant region, offering diners the flavors of Israel, Lebanon, Morocco and Tunisia throughout the day.
“[The restaurant] will have a lot of the different parts,” Xenohristos said. “The menu, it’ll have influences from different parts of the Med.”
