Updated at 10:15 a.m. Monday:  One person has died from injuries sustained in a Nov. 18 crash.

Law enforcement and Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Service members responded to a call at around 10 p.m. on Nov. 18 for a vehicle collision on Muncaster Road near Beechdale Court, according to authorities.

Officials determined a 2006 Chevrolet Cobalt was heading south on Muncaster when it left the roadway, hit an embankment and rolled over.

The driver of the Cobalt has been identified as 24-year-old Mario Antonio Jandres-Rivera of Ginger Court in Germantown and the passenger has been identified as 23-year-old Oscar Eduardo Rivas-Macal of Washington Grove Lane in Gaithersburg. Rivas-Macal was ejected from the vehicle during the collision and died as a result of his injuries on Nov. 23. Jandres-Rivera  was also injured and is in stable condition at a local hospital.

Reasons for the collision are currently undetermined, though investigators believe a dark-colored Ford Mustang may have been involved and are seeking to speak with the Mustang’s driver. Police have yet to confirm whether Rivas-Macal was struck by the Mustang as part of a hit-and-run incident.

The Mustang fled the scene heading toward Gaithersburg, police said. Police are asking for the public’s help in locating the Mustang. Anyone with information is encouraged to call the Collision Reconstruction Unit at 240-773-6620.

Editor’s note: This story has been updated to reflect that police are investigating whether another car struck Oscar Eduardo Rivas-Macal after he was ejected from a vehicle that hit an embankment.
