With just three weeks until the Nov. 6 general election, Democratic Montgomery County executive candidate Marc Elrich has begun running his first set of cable TV campaign ads.
According to the Federal Communications Commission’s public inspection file database, an invoice dated Oct. 11 shows that Elrich spent $75,917 on a set of 540 ads that began running Oct. 12 and will continue through Oct. 22. The ads are all 30 seconds long and are appearing on nine channels that are available in the greater Washington, D.C., market on Comcast.
The channels include: A&E Network, Comedy Central, CNN, ESPN, HGTV, MSNBC, NFL Network, TLC and USA.
Elrich is the second candidate to air cable ads, as independent candidate Nancy Floreen began spending money on TV time on Oct. 1.
Floreen has spent an additional $30,000 on a set of 177 30-second ads that began airing Tuesday and will continue through Oct. 22, which is her third set of ads she has purchased since Oct. 1. Her ads are airing on mostly the same networks as Elrich’s ads with three exceptions: Floreen’s ads are appearing on American Movie Classics, Bravo and The Food Network instead of Comedy Central, NFL Network and A&E. Floreen has spent more than $70,000 on TV ads since the beginning of the month.
The third candidate in the race, Republican Robin Ficker of Boyds, hasn’t began running ads.
