Fogo de Chao, an internationally renowned Brazilian steakhouse, will open in North Bethesda’s Pike & Rose development at the beginning of 2019—making it the chain’s 41st location in the U.S. and the third in the Washington, D.C., area.
The restaurant will take over 8,782 square feet on the corner of Grand Park Avenue and Old Georgetown Road in the space vacated by a Nike pop-up store at 11600 Old Georgetown Road, according to a Federal Realty press release.
“Fogo de Chao specializes in the centuries-old Southern Brazilian cooking technique of churrasco—the art of roasting high-quality cuts of meats over open flame, all of which are carved tableside by Brazilian-trained gaucho chefs,” the press release said.
The chain’s menu offers a large variety of grilled meats, including beef short ribs, beef tenderloin, filet mignon, sirloin, chicken, lamb and pork. Fresh ingredients inspired by Brazilian farmlands are served from the “Market Table” to accompany entrees, according to the Fogo de Chao website.
Seafood entrees such as chilled lobster, pan-seared salmon and Chilean sea bass are also on the menu.
Fogo de Chao has 52 locations throughout Brazil, Mexico, the Middle East and the U.S. The restaurant chain was founded in southern Brazil in 1979.
