Man Uses Credit Card Stolen at Rockville Country Club To Buy Jewelry Worth $15,000

County police ask for help to identify person who posed as a groom at store

A man posing as a groom-to-be used a stolen credit card to purchase more than $15,000 worth of merchandise—including a wedding band—from Jared The Galleria of Jewelry store in Rockville on Aug. 5, according to Montgomery County police.

Police released Tuesday a still photo taken from a surveillance camera in the store and the department is asking the public for help in identifying the man.

The owner of the credit card was at Lakewood Country Club on Glen Mill Road in Rockville on Aug. 5 when his wallet was stolen, but he didn’t notice it missing until his bank contacted him later in the afternoon, according to police.

The alleged thief also attempted to purchase more than $1,100 worth of merchandise from a Home Depot store in Germantown, but the bank declined the transaction.

Crime solvers of Montgomery County is offering up to $10,000 for information that may lead to an arrest in the case.
