A recount has confirmed Sara Love’s paper-thin win over Samir Paul in the District 16 delegate race.
The results posted Saturday by the Montgomery County Board of Elections show that Love claimed 11,299 votes to Paul’s 11,287, a difference of 12 votes.
In a Twitter post, Love, a Bethesda resident and former ACLU public policy director, thanked the county election officials for working through the weekend on the count.
“I am thrilled and humbled to have won the third delegate seat in D16!!” she posted.
She said Paul, a Montgomery Blair High School teacher, ran a “terrific campaign.”
The two Democrats were competing for the seat now held by Del. Bill Frick (D), who decided to run for county executive instead of pursuing reelection.
Dels. Marc Korman and Ariana Kelly finished with the highest vote totals in the Democratic primary for the three delegate seats representing the Bethesda-based district.
