The team behind the Strathmore Square development project is holding a Tuesday community meeting to share new details about its plan to build high-rises and hundreds of new dwelling units in North Bethesda.

Fivesquares Development, which is heading up the project near the Grosvenor-Strathmore Metro station, is giving its presentation to residents and answering questions ahead of submitting its proposal to the Montgomery County Planning Department. A recently adopted growth plan for the area could allow Fivesquares to build as many as 1,400 new homes on 15 acres south of The Music Center at Strathmore, an area that includes a surface parking lot.

In past meetings, Fivesquares has said it’s looking to build multifamily housing and a village green. The project could span several decades, according to Fivesquares principal Ron Kaplan.

At the same time, Fivesquares is firing up plans to expand the Metro garage in order to make up for the spaces lost when the surface lot is developed. The county planning board is scheduled to review the garage project during a July 19 meeting.

The community presentation on Fivesquares’ sketch plan application is slated to run from 7 to 9 p.m. in the music room at the Strathmore Mansion.
