More than 65 firefighters responded to fight a fire that broke out at a home in the 4400 block of Mahan Road in Silver Spring on Sunday night.
The fire began around 11:30 p.m. and flames could be seen extending from the roof of the single-family home.
One firefighter suffered a minor injury, but no other injuries were reported, according to Montgomery County Fire & Rescue Service spokesman Pete Piringer.
Four people and two dogs were displaced from the home due to the fire, which caused more than $250,000 in damage. A neighbor called 911 and alerted the residents, according to Piringer.
The fire is believed to have begun in the attic and Piringer said the cause, which remains undetermined, may have been electrical in nature. The Mahan Road home is just north of Kensington, not far from the intersection of Veirs Mill Road and Connecticut Avenue.
