County continues to develop options for Capital Crescent Trail crossing of Little Falls Parkway
Montgomery Parks officials are considering installing a pedestrian overpass or tunnel, shifting the crossing intersection to Arlington Road or Hillandale Road, adding pedestrian-activated crossing lights or permanently reducing lanes. The county reduced the number of vehicle lanes to two at the intersection after 81-year-old Chevy Chase resident Ned Gaylin was struck by a vehicle and killed in 2016 while crossing the road on the trail while riding a recumbent bicycle. The parks department hopes to come up with three options to improve safety at the crossing this fall and then present one to the Montgomery County Planning Board for approval this winter. [WTOP]
