Shea leads Democratic gubernatorial candidates in money race, but Hogan has big advantage
Baltimore attorney Jim Shea reported the most cash on hand among Democratic contenders for governor with $1.4 million, although former NAACP President Ben Jealous reported raising the most money—$1 million—over the past three months. Jealous has about $660,000 cash on hand for the final month of campaigning before the June 26 primary. Prince George’s County Executive Rushern Baker and his running mate reported having $577,000 cash on hand. They led the Democratic candidates in fundraising, but Republican Gov. Montgomery Parks to hold public meeting on changes to trail crossing at Little Falls Parkway
The agency is inviting the public to weigh in from 7 to 9 p.m., June 13 at Somerset Elementary School on a proposal to change the Capital Crescent Trail crossing at Little Falls Parkway. The road was reduced to one lane in each direction by the addition of bollards after a man was struck by a vehicle and killed at the crossing while riding a recumbent bicycle. Hagerstown police chief to take Rockville job
Hagerstown Police Chief Victor Brito will become the new police chief of the Rockville city police department. Brito resigned from the Hagerstown department Friday and was announced as the new Rockville chief Tuesday. Brito will take over the job from Maj. Paisano’s Pizza opens in Silver Spring
The pizza chain opened a new location this week at 8213 Georgia Ave. in downtown Silver Spring. It’s planning to give out free pizza slices Wednesday and accept donations on behalf of Montgomery Blair High School. [Source of the Spring]
