A fire that started in a chimney spread into a Silver Spring home Friday night and displaced one family, according to Montgomery County Fire & Rescue Service spokesman Pete Piringer.

No one was injured in the fire.

About 50 firefighters responded to the 1700 block of Highland Drive at about 10:30 p.m., according to Piringer.

The fire was considered accidental. It began in the pre-fabricated chimney and then spread into the attic, causing about $250,000 in damage.
