Parents help save young girl who passed out at SoccerPlex

A group of people last weekend helped revive a young girl who had lost consciousness at the Maryland SoccerPlex in Boyds. The girl’s mother said she’d started choking while eating a pancake in her car. Survey shows increased satisfaction among Metro riders

Metro riders are expressing increased satisfaction with the transit system in the first months of 2018. A survey by the rail system found that 76 percent of those asked were satisfied with their experiences on Metro in January, February and March. That’s up from 69 percent during the same time period last year. General Manager Paul Wiedefeld said the results show people are having a “better experience” on the system. [WTOP]

Kentlands neighborhood turns 30

The Kentlands neighborhood in Gaithersburg is celebrating its 30th anniversary. The planned community where residents could get a taste of city living was lauded at first when it opened but later drew criticism; many people didn’t want to feel like they were in the city. Over the years, though, the concept has seemed to catch on, and places like Bethesda and Reston have developed into higher-density hubs outside of D.C. [Washingtonian]

Linkages to Learning program celebrates 25-year anniversary 

Montgomery County Executive Ike Leggett this week took time to honor the Linkages to Learning program. The initiative is celebrating its 25-year anniversary as a conduit between Montgomery County Public Schools, the Montgomery County Department of Health and Human Services and other community groups.
