An upscale Washington, D.C., salon is opening its second location in Park Potomac next month.

Karma by Erwin Gomez will open in the Potomac development off I-270 in late May, company co-owner Sab Shad said Wednesday. The salon will offer hair styling, makeup, skin care, nail treatments and other options.

The original Karma opened in 2012 in the West End near Georgetown. Gomez, who operates the company along with Shad, claims a “celebrity, politico and VIP clientele,” listing former clients to include Hillary Clinton, House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, singer Jennifer Hudson and actress Tina Fey.

Karma will open at 12430 Park Potomac Ave. next to Filicori Zecchini Coffee under The Perry apartment complex. It’s also across the street from Addie’s, which opened last summer. Shad said they chose Park Potomac for their second salon because of its accessibility as well as its mix of retail, restaurants and housing.

“The name of our business is Karma and we take that seriously,” she said. “The karma we found in Park Potomac was just right for us.”

Filling 4,100 square feet in what Shad described as a lounge-style space, Karma is designed with industrial flooring and Asian-inspired decorations, including a multibranched alloy chandelier.

The salon will feature 21 private and semi-private beauty rooms, including 15 hair stations, one for nails, two spa treatment rooms and three stations focusing on makeup, lashes and brows, Shad said. About a dozen employees will staff the location, and Gomez will work in the Potomac salon every Wednesday and Thursday.

The D.C. location is well-reviewed and was named the top salon by Washingtonian magazine in 2015. Shad said the Potomac salon will have the same services available in a bigger space.

“We’re going to be offering the same level of expertise,” she said. “We’re going to be bringing D.C. into Park Potomac.”
