Using everything from old bike parts to PVC pipes, Scrap Arts Music aims to make energetic music from unexpected sources. The group is inspired by street performance and jazz. This is its new production Children of Metropolis.

Kids for Kid Fund—Friday night—Imagination Stage, Bethesda
Students from four elementary schools across Montgomery County will be working together to explore the rights of children and the philanthropic work that can be done to benefit kids. They’ll decide how to allocate $1,000.

Joey Bada$$—Friday night—The Fillmore, Silver Spring
Brooklyn rapper Joey Bada$$ is making a stop in Silver Spring for his Amerikkka Tour off his second album he released last year. His first album B4.da.$$ came out in 2015. Opening the show will be Boodie, Buddy and Dessy Hinds.

Be’la Dona—Saturday night—AMP by Strathmore, North Bethesda
D.C. R&B supergroup Be’la Dona brings together performers and musicians from several local acts. The nine-piece ensemble includes members who have shared the stage with Chaka Khan, Chuck Brown, Salt-N-Pepa and Elton John.

Kensington Day of the Book Festival—Sunday—Old Town Kensington
For the 13th year, the Kensington Day of the Book Festival returns, this time with 100 local authors. The event includes live music, cookbook demos, poetry readings, food trucks, crafts and a children’s stage.
The free event runs from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Earth Day Festival—Sunday—Brookside Gardens, Wheaton
Brookside Gardens is hosting an Earth Day Festival with a green craft fair, native plant sale, community art projects and a tour of the gardens. There will also be live music and activities for families.
