Two men stole $7,000 worth of eyeglasses from a Friendship Heights store earlier this month, Montgomery County police said Tuesday.
The two men went into ILORI, which sells designer sunglasses and eyeglasses, at about 1 p.m. April 5. Police said they tried on several pairs of glasses and aroused the suspicions of an employee, who began filming them on his cell phone. One of the men then threatened to assault the employee.
The pair then ran out of the store with “numerous pairs” of eyeglasses, police wrote in a press release.
Police released surveillance photos of the men in hopes of identifying them.
ILORI, at 5530 Western Ave., has been the site of several thefts and robberies in recent years. From last June to January, the same man allegedly stole high-priced frames from the store three different times. In 2016, a woman pepper-sprayed an employee before leaving with five Chanel sunglasses.
Police have asked anyone who recognizes them or has other information about the robbery to call 240-773-5100 or leave an anonymous tip with Crime Solvers of Montgomery County at 866-411-TIPS (8477) for a reward of up to $10,000 for information that leads to an arrest or indictment.
