New drawings are available of a proposed Chevy Chase apartment project slated for a site just across the street from the Purple Line’s path.
The developer, Landmark Realty Inc., wants to construct a residential community called Crescent at Chevy Chase, which would comprise two four-story apartment buildings with a combined 116 units. The project has been in the works for a few years, but was on hold until construction on the Purple Line, a 16.2-mile light-rail line, began. With construction on the line now underway, the Crescent at Chevy Chase is able to advance.
Landmark has submitted an application for preliminary and site plan approval to county planners. The county’s planning staff will now review the documents before sending them to the Montgomery County Planning Board for consideration.
Landmark Realty President Rob Bindeman has said he hopes to break ground on the project in late 2019. The two multifamily buildings will replace the Newdale Mews Apartments on the roughly 2-acre site, just north of Newdale Road. Bindeman has said he’s keeping Newdale Mews residents updated as the project progresses.
