Mom Prom—Friday night—Silver Spring Civic Center
Mom Prom invites women to wear their old prom gowns, bridesmaid dresses, wedding gowns or other formal wear for a night of dancing to raise funds for charity. There will be a DJ, food and a prom queen contest. The event is open to all women.
Tickets are $50 to $360 and benefit the YMCA of Metro D.C. Youth and Family Services. Tickets include drink tickets and heavy hors d’oeuvres.
Peter Pan Jr.—Friday, Saturday and Sunday—Arts Barn, Gaithersburg
The Arts Barn in Gaithersburg is staging a production of Peter Pan Jr., which follows Peter and Tinkerbell as they return to Neverland and face off against Captain Hook with a group of children.
Tickets are $12 to $15. Shows are at 7:30 p.m. Friday, and 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.
Chopteeth—Friday night—AMP by Strathmore, North Bethesda
A 12-piece Afrofunk act, Chopteeth is coming to AMP with its interpretation of West African beats and American pop. The band takes its name from a Fela Kuti song.
Tickets are $20 to $27 for the 8 p.m. show.
Chamber music dance master class—Saturday—Strathmore, North Bethesda
Jessica Krash, a composer and scholar, will lead a class exploring dance rhythms in chamber music. The master class will allow participants to perform different pieces with dance elements. They can then perform in a March 17 concert.
Tickets are $5 for the 1 p.m. class.
Phyllis Hyman tribute—Sunday night—Bethesda Blues & Jazz Supper Club
The Bethesda Blues & Jazz is holding a tribute show to Phyllis Linda Hyman, a singer-songwriter and actress best known for singles “You Know How To Love Me” and “Don’t Wanna Change the World.” Shang and the Brencore Allstars Band will perform her hits.
Tickets are $35 for the 8 p.m. show.
