Police officers’ names disappear from online court records

The names of arresting officers involved in criminal cases disappeared Thursday from Maryland’s public online court database. It’s not yet clear what happened to them, but the names provided the public, journalists and others with information about the cases involving specific officers. Reporters in Baltimore, for example, used the tool to track cases of officers who were implicated in the corrupt Baltimore Police Gun Trace Task Force. [Baltimore Sun]

Rockville gun safety rally canceled Friday

Franchot likely to get four more years as state comptroller

Takoma Park’s Peter Franchot made it through the state’s filing deadline this week without drawing a Democratic challenger and will likely maintain his hold on the state comptroller’s office. Very windy day expected

Wind gusts up to 70 mph are expected throughout the day Friday as the region weathers a strong storm with high winds that are predicted to linger throughout the weekend, according to the National Weather Service.
