Updated 11:05 a.m.: Montgomery County police investigated a report of a student possibly with a gun at Silver Spring International Middle School on Wednesday morning, but no weapon was found, police said.
Officers searched the school and did not locate a gun, police said. Officers remained for more than an hour and a half, but the investigation was considered complete by 11 a.m., Sgt. Rebecca Innocenti, a police spokeswoman, said.
The school had been currently sheltering in place, Gboyinde Onijala, a spokeswoman for Montgomery County Public Schools, said.
School operations resumed after 11 a.m., according to police.
Police received the report at 9:19 a.m. and sent officers to the scene, Innocenti said
Onijala said the school had received a report that a student was in possession of some sort of weapon on school grounds.
The student was identified and searched, and no weapon was found, Onijala said.
“There is no threat or danger at the time,” Innocenti said.
