In 2016, there were 5,776 homeless, abused or neglected animals brought to the Montgomery County Animal Services and Adoption Center (MCASAC) in Derwood. The county’s Department of Police, Animal Services Division, operates the center, which helps all of these animals—from dogs and cats to farm and exotic animals—find a home and get the food or care they need.
