The Mediterranean restaurant Bistro Lazeez in downtown Bethesda is “temporarily closed,” according to its website.
The restaurant at 8009 Norfolk Ave. has not opened for at least the past two days and on Thursday afternoon there was a handwritten sign posted on the door that said “closed today.”
Restaurateur Ramzi Osseiran took over the restaurant in 2014, although it’s not clear that he still owns it. Attempts to contact him Thursday were unsuccessful. Calls to the phone line at the restaurant went immediately to voicemail.
The restaurant serves a variety of Mediterranean dishes such as chicken kababs, hummus and falafel.
If the eatery closes permanently, it would join a growing list of county restaurants that have closed in the last six months—including Bethesda’s Yamas Mediterranean Grill, which closed Tuesday. Pi Pizzeria, another downtown Bethesda restaurant, announced this week that it is closing Friday.
