Updated 4:20 p.m.: The Clara Barton Parkway has been reopened after a stretch of the road was closed Wednesday for pothole repairs, according to the National Park Service.
Sizeable potholes along the Clara Barton Parkway had caused local authorities to close the road Wednesday morning in both directions between Chain Bridge and the Glen Echo Turnaround. The stretch of the road that was closed is about 2.5 miles.
The National Park Service initially expected to keep it closed for the rest of the day, but Jonathan Shafer, a spokesman for the National Park Service National Capital Region, said the road was reopened in the afternoon.
