Red Line single-tracking in D.C. after derailment

Red Line trains are single-tracking between Judiciary Square and Farragut North Tuesday morning as work continues at the scene of Monday’s train derailment outside the Farragut North station. Light snow expected tonight

Tuesday is expected to be mostly cloudy with a high near 39 degrees and light snow possible at night, according to the National Weather Service. The snow could start in the afternoon, but will mainly fall after 1 a.m. Wednesday morning, with less than an inch expected to accumulate.

Madaleno and other Democrats launch effort to pass $15 minimum wage

State Sen. Rich Madaleno (D-Kensington) was among a group of Democratic state legislators who launched an effort Monday in the General Assembly to try to raise the state’s minimum wage to $15 per hour. The proposal calls for raising wages to that level by 2023, which they said would benefit about 570,000 workers. Police search for gas station robbers

Montgomery County police say two men wearing masks entered the Shell gas station at 100 University Blvd. West in Silver Spring and confronted an employee. One of the masked men pulled a handgun and demanded money. After receiving an undisclosed amount of money from the employee, they fled the store. [Montgomery County police]

County aims to make the Veirs Mill corridor more pedestrian friendly

County planners are presenting their preliminary recommendations to complete sidewalks and add improved bike infrastructure along the corridor. Updates to the road are planned as the county moves forward with its Vision Zero plan to reduce deaths and serious injuries caused by traffic incidents. [DC Commute Times]
