The developer of the office tower at 4747 Bethesda Ave. has scored another anchor tenant, announcing Thursday that Booz Allen Hamilton plans to move employees into the downtown Bethesda building in late 2019.

Booz Allen will occupy a roughly 65,000-square-foot space in the 15-floor structure, which is about 71 percent leased, according to a news release.

The office building also will serve as the headquarters for Host Hotels & Resorts, a Fortune 500 company that is claiming 55,000 square feet, the release stated. The news that Host Hotels & Resorts would be moving its 187-employee headquarters from Rockledge Drive to downtown Bethesda broke on Thursday.

Booz Allen, a Virginia-based management consulting company, will relocate employees from its office at One Preserve Parkway in Rockville. The company’s headquarters is in McLean, Virginia.

“We’re providing our employees with open and inspiring workspaces that encourage collaboration and innovation and allow us to continue to attract and retain the best talent who look for a dynamic work environment. At the same time, we’re adopting smart-sizing strategies that will allow us to host as many employees in Bethesda as we have in Rockville, despite reducing our square footage,” Deane Edelman, a vice president for Booz Allen, said in a prepared statement.

JBG Smith, the developer of the downtown Bethesda building, also will relocate its corporate base to 4747 Bethesda Ave. after construction is completed.

“We are thrilled that Host Hotels and Booz Allen Hamilton have elected to join us as future ‘neighbors’ in the building as they clearly represent the types of best-in-class companies we sought to attract to the building,” David Ritchey, executive vice president at JBG Smith, said in a prepared statement.

Workers broke ground on the 281,000-square-foot building in July.
