Wine bar chain Vino Volo has closed in Bethesda.

A sign on the door of the 7243 Woodmont Ave. restaurant Monday morning informed customers of the closing.

“We thank our many new and old friends who have shared the wine country experience during the past 5 years,” the sign read. The location opened in November 2012.

The news of the closing was first reported by local blogger Robert Dyer.

The chain is known for its locations at airport terminals, including spots in Dulles and Baltimore/Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport. Vino Volo sells wine by bottles, glasses or tasting flights, as well as food options.
