Montgomery County police are looking for the driver of a sedan who might have seen a van fatally strike a pedestrian this month in White Oak.

Elaine Rowena Allen, 71, died the evening of Nov. 9 after a white Ford E-250 driving south on Columbia Pike struck her near Hillwood Drive. She was declared dead at the scene. The driver of the Ford, Carter L. Cockrell, 75, of Washington, D.C., remained on the scene.

Police said they are looking for the driver of a gray or silver sedan that was driving in front of his van and might have witnessed the incident, according to a press release. The sedan was driving south on Columbia Pike near Hillwood Drive at 6:30 p.m. that day.

Detectives are still investigating the crash, including which direction Allen was walking and whether she was struck by an additional vehicle or vehicles.

Police have asked the owner or driver of the sedan or anyone with information about the incident to call 240-773-6620 or 301-279-8000.
