Fire in Bainbridge Apartments garage
A car fire broke out on the lowest floor of the underground parking garage at the St. Elmo Avenue apartment building in Bethesda around 7:15 a.m. Sunday. No injuries were reported, but several cars were damage. [@mcfrspio on Twitter]

Doctors help woman give birth in Silver Spring church parking lot
A woman in labor who was stuck in traffic in Silver Spring got some assistance at the perfect time. The woman, Marnique Young, was with the baby’s father, Anthony Watkins, trying to get to Holy Cross Hospital when the baby started to come out. Frantic, Watkins pulled into a church parking lot and called 911. He waved for help along the side of the road and managed to flag down Dr. Yvette Ross-Hebron and her husband, Dr. Harold Hebron, who helped deliver the baby safely in the parking lot. [Fox5]
Maryland creating pollution credits
The state’s Department of the Environment is completing work on regulations to allow companies, local governments and property owners who go beyond water-quality-improvement goals to earn credits that can be sold to businesses failing to meet the goals. In the coming weeks, a state legislative committee will review the new regulations, which are designed to cut down on nutrients flowing into the state’s rivers and streams. [Baltimore Sun]
Controlled blasts scheduled on Rockville Pike near NIH
Blasts are scheduled to take place between 11:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. Monday and Wednesday on Rockville Pike near the Medical Center Metro Station as crews continue to clear a path for a new underground pedestrian tunnel.
