A vehicle fire caused the closure of the outer loop of the Beltway Friday morning before Rockville Pike, resulting in significant traffic delays.
The fire occurred before 11:30 a.m. and the highway was closed for about an hour. Traffic was backed near the Prince George's County line on the outer loop due to the incident around noon.
Montgomery County sent an email alert out around 12:30 p.m. noting that all lanes on the highway had reopened following the earlier closure.
