Officials weigh whether Maryland grocery stores should sell beer
State leaders said allowing large chain grocery stores to sell beer may negatively affect sales at small liquor stores and microbreweries. Those who support selling beer in grocery stores say it would take consumer support to change the Maryland law that prevents such sales. Maryland leaders approve $61 million in state budget cuts
The three-member Board of Public Works composed of Gov. Larry Hogan, Comptroller Peter Franchot and Treasurer Nancy Kopp approved most of Hogan’s initial proposal to cut the state budget as part of an effort to prepare for future shortfalls, but the board dropped the Hogan administration’s request to eliminate $6.35 million in disparity grants to Baltimore City and Prince George’s County. Tordil sentenced to two life terms for Prince George’s County shooting
Eulalio Tordil, 64, was sentenced Wednesday to two life sentences in Prince George’s County for fatally shooting his estranged wife as well as injuring a bystander who attempted to aid the woman. Earlier this year, Tordil was sentenced to four consecutive life terms in Montgomery County for killing two people and injuring two others in shootings at Westfield Montgomery mall and an Aspen Hill shopping center the day after he killed his wife.
