Denizens Brewing Co.
Just off Georgia Avenue in Silver Spring, the brewery has a two-level taproom and an outdoor patio with an urban aesthetic, including decor forged out of concrete and metal. Opened in July 2014, the brewery is characterized by frequently large crowds and cranked tunes.
Guests can choose a seasonal, hoppy or malty flight, with four 4-ounce beers for $9. Aged sour beers in barrels from Catoctin Creek Distilling Co. in Purcellville, Virginia, offer a local twist. Food offerings include a full menu of pub fare including carnitas-stuffed pupusas, a curried chicken sandwich, beef or quinoa burgers and Indian-spiced chickpea wedges.
Complimentary tours are available at 3 p.m. Saturdays, and the staff says a walk-through can usually be arranged.
