Silver Spring woman bitten by snake in bed

Christie Kelly, a 24-year-old yoga instructor who lives in the Woodmoor neighborhood of Silver Spring, awoke around 6 a.m. May 30 to searing pain in her left hand and found a copperhead snake in her bed that had bitten her. She was taken to Holy Cross Hospital in Silver Spring where she underwent four antivenom treatments and was released this week. [Washington Post]

Hogan hires campaign manager, general consultant

Gov. Larry Hogan has brought in Ryan Reynolds, a senior vice president for WPA Intelligence who has worked on political campaigns in Colorado, Kansas and South Carolina, to manage his re-election campaign. The governor also hired general consultant Jim Barnett, who has worked on Republican campaigns in left-leaning New England states in the past. [Maryland Matters]

Maryland elections board detected suspicious activity on computer system

The state’s Board of Elections detected the suspicious activity on a computer system used for online voter registration, but officials said the system was not breached and it did not impact the state’s voter registration database, which is not connected to the internet.
