Free doughnuts at 202 Donuts & Coffee, Dunkin’ Donuts, Krispy Kreme, Duck Donuts
Friday is National Donut Day, and local shops are celebrating by offering doughnut deals. 202 Donuts & Coffee in downtown Bethesda is offering free glazed doughnuts until they run out. “We have a good amount of doughnuts, but you never know,” co-owner Alonso Roche said. The Fairmont Avenue store opens at 7:30 a.m. Passers-by can also stop at the take-out window at Community on Norfolk Avenue to pick up a free doughnut all day.
Dunkin’ Donuts is offering a free doughnut of any kind with the purchase of a beverage at its county locations Friday, and Krispy Kreme is also offering a free doughnut of any variety while supplies last. Duck Donuts on Rockville Pike will offer a free doughnut with any purchase, and receipts will feature coupons for future visits.
Secret menu items for Yelp promotion
The Yodeling Yelper Pie, the secret menu item this month at Gusto Farm to Street.
This month, several restaurants in the Washington, D.C., area will offer secret menu items inspired by the review site Yelp. Items include Yelp’s Black Badge Kimchi Fries at Bibim in Silver Spring, Yodeling Yelper Pie at Gusto Farm to Street in downtown Bethesda and Yelp on the Half Shell at the Grilled Oyster Co. in Potomac. Duck Donuts in Rockville, and Botanero and Taco Bar in Gaithersburg are also participating.
Yelp users will receive a 35 percent to 50 percent discount on these items if they digitally check in at the restaurant.
Jaleo to open in Disney World
Bethesda chef José Andrés’ tapas business continues to expand as he plans to open a Jaleo in Walt Disney World in Florida, Food & Wine reported. The Spanish-style tapas restaurant also has a location on Bethesda row. The menu for the Disney Springs location will apparently be similar. The restaurant will open in 2018.
