Restaurant crawl takes over Silver Spring’s Fenton Village Sunday
More than 30 downtown Silver Spring restaurants are participating in this year’s “Taste The World in Fenton Village,” which organizers say is the largest restaurant crawl in the Washington, D.C. area. Participating eateries such as Urban Butcher, Kefa Café and Pacci’s Neapolitan Pizzeria will be offering small plates to diners at costs ranging from $2 to $5 during the event that runs from 1 to 5 p.m. on Sunday. Montgomery County delegate encouraging colleagues to wait to endorse Democratic gubernatorial candidates in 2018
Del. David Moon (D-Takoma Park) has launched an effort requesting Democrats in the state wait to endorse any gubernatorial candidates until after the state’s filing deadline on Feb. 27 as part of an effort to allow the candidates to define themselves on issues before the party coalesces around one candidate to run against Republican Gov. Larry Hogan. Moon said the plan is partly due to 2002 and 2014 elections in the state when Democrats lost the governor’s office after backing candidates who had served as lieutenant governor that failed to excite voters. Public forum scheduled to discuss Rockville Pike express bus service
Montgomery County is hosting the forum at 6:30 p.m. May 24 to provide more information about the plan to add a new 12-stop express bus service from Lakeforest Mall in Gaithersburg to the Medical Center Metro station in Bethesda on Rockville Pike, MD Route 355. The county plans to run 17 new buses along the route, which is expected to cost about $2.6 million to start and $2 million per year to operate. [Montgomery County]
Glen Echo Park to hold annual gala and fundraiser Saturday
Maryland First Lady Yumi Hogan will be honored with the “Visionary Award” at the arts and cultural center near the Potomac River. The “Gala in the Park” will include a reception, dinner and dancing at the former amusement park. Tickets are $200 per person and the event runs from 6 p.m. to midnight on Saturday. [Glen Echo Park]
