What's happening May 19-21

E.T. in Concert—Thursday—The Music Center at Strathmore, North Bethesda

Strathmore will be screening Steven Spielberg’s E.T.: The Extraterrestial projected in HD on a giant screen as the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra plays the score live. The score, written by John Williams, won an Oscar when the movie came out in 1982.

Art Sherrod Jr.—Friday—AMP by Strathmore, North Bethesda

Art Sherrod Jr., a smooth jazz and R&B saxophonist, comes to AMP for a “Sax in the City” performance. His music includes gospel, jazz and hip hop influences, and the Friday show features guest Kenny Allen.

SerbFest DC—Friday to Sunday—Saint Luke Serbian Orthodox Church, Potomac

SerbFest DC is a three-day festival offering traditional Serbian food and entertainment. Guests can watch dance and music performances, buy gifts and boutique items, or participate in family activities.

The free festival runs from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 12 to 6 p.m. Sunday.

With more than 100 authors participating, the Gaithersburg Book Festival includes talks, panel discussions and book signings. The event also features a children’s area, a used book sale and a new book sale by Politics & Prose.

The free event runs from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

The Persuaders—Sunday—Bethesda Blues & Jazz Supper Club

Bronx-based R&B group The Persuaders began its career with the gold hit “It’s a Thin Line Between Love and Hate” and continued performing since, going on to be sampled and covered by many artists, including Kanye West and Rod Stewart.

Tickets are $40 for the 7:30 p.m. show.
