Eyeglasses retailer Warby Parker is looking to open its Bethesda shop later this week.

The 4821 Bethesda Ave. store plans to open Saturday, a spokeswoman for the company said.

Warby Parker will offer a selection of sunglasses and nonprescription glasses available for immediate pickup in the store and prescription glasses that can be delivered in a few days, according to a news release. The store is aiming for a setting where customers can browse for the best frames and lenses, and it features leather seating and displays of books to evoke the feeling of a “classic library.”

Founded in 2010, Warby Parker operates more than 50 retail stores across the U.S., including two in Washington, D.C., and one each in Tysons Corner and Baltimore. For each pair of glasses sold, Warby Parker distributes a pair to a country where people are in need of glasses.

“We've come to consider the DMV area a home away from home,” Dave Gilboa, co-CEO and co-Founder of Warby Parker, wrote in a statement. “Bethesda is the perfect spot for us as we continue to connect with the community even further.”

The Bethesda store has eight employees, Gilboa said, including opticians who are able to make adjustments to new glasses.

The Bethesda Warby Parker will offer a pair of Bethesda-exclusive sunglasses for a limited time: Durand in Striped Sassafras frames with Flash Mirrored Pacific Blue lenses.

The store will be open from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 12 to 6 p.m. Sunday.
