The 101-apartment building that rose from the rubble of the former Bethesda United Bank is now ready for residents.
The Element 28 complex stands in downtown Bethesda at 100 Commerce Lane, between Old Georgetown Road and Wisconsin Avenue. Apartments range in size from studios to three-bedroom units, and all homes have wood-plank flooring, stone-tiled spa showers and soaking tubs, according to a press release from Virginia-based developer Kettler.
Kettler’s release stated that leasing has begun on the 16-story building, which opens onto a plaza and sculpture garden. New residents will live about a block from the Bethesda Metro Station.
“When you come up the Metro escalator the first thing you see is Element 28,” said Kevin Peterkin, the multifamily development director for Kettler. “It is this bright red building that just stands out against the gray and white commercial buildings that have dominated the downtown streetscape for years.”
The high-rise stands on the former site of the bank, which was demolished in 2014.
The building also offers residents a variety of community amenities, such as wine lockers in the lobby, a rooftop lounge, a 24-hour fitness studio and a conference center.
