Goat pays surprise visit to Aspen Hill home

A goat showed up on the front door of an Aspen Hill home, to the amusement of animal control workers and local residents alike. The Montgomery County Animal Services and Adoption Center wrote Wednesday in a Facebook post that officers caught the goat after a short chase in the 2300 block of Twin Valley Lane. The goat is staying at the animal services center in Derwood, and officials asked its owner to get in touch with them. [NBC4]

Silver Spring student hospitalized after falling six floors

A college student from Silver Spring on Monday fell from the sixth-floor window of a dorm at Frostburg State University. The 19-year-old student was seriously injured in the fall, which happened at about 8:45 p.m. Rescue workers took the student to a local hospital and later flew him to a different hospital in Baltimore. University police and Allegany County authorities are investigating the incident. [NBC4]

Montgomery County energy efficiency programs to get millions

A state commission on Wednesday set aside $48 million in funds to benefit Maryland customers of Pepco and Delmarva Power and Light. A press release from the Maryland Public Service Commission said that the move resulted from the merger of Exelon Corp. and Pepco Holdings Inc. two years ago. Under the commission’s order, Exelon must direct about $22 million of the funding to energy efficiency programs in Montgomery and Prince George’s counties. [Maryland Public Service Commission]
