One Woman Sex and the City—Friday night—AMP by Strathmore, North Bethesda

Comedic actress Kerry Ipema plays the whole cast of Sex and the City in a parody of and tribute to the six-season television show. She acts out Carrie, Charlotte, Samantha and Miranda and their travails through love, friendships and an infamous Post-it note.

Face of the Week

New parents can join Grammy-winning musicians Cathy Fink and Marcy Marxer and Washington, D.C., area-based Latino singer Jorge Anaya for a bilingual musical performance and lesson. The mix of folk, country and swing music is meant to be a fun way for parents to interact with young children.

Tickets are $10 for the 10 a.m. event. One child under two included per ticket.

Based in Washington, D.C., Shenandoah Run is a 9-piece ensemble band that plays both vintage Americana as well as contemporary folk. Their latest album, SR, includes classics and new songs.

Tickets are $15 to $25 for the 8 p.m. show.

Pottercon—Sunday—The Fillmore, Silver Spring

The Fillmore is hosting PotterCon for fans of the beloved Harry Potter series. The event promises a sorting hat ceremony, a costume contest and a trivia competition. Young wizarding fans are out of luck for this 21-and-over day, which features butterbeers and other drinks.

Tickets are $15.50 each with doors opening at 2 p.m.

D.C. Street Corner Harmony—Sunday night—Bethesda Blues & Jazz Supper Club

The Clovers, The Spaniels and The Jewels, three R&B and doo-wop groups that formed in the 1950s, are performing a throwback night celebrating the music from the golden days of the genre. All the groups performed in the Washington, D.C., area at that time. The Jewels formed after meeting in Roosevelt High School in the district in 1958—and the band is still made up of all original members.

Tickets are $30 for the 7:30 p.m. show.
