Rockville High School Principal Billie-Jean Bensen will meet with parents tonight after Montgomery County Public Schools Superintendent Jack Smith takes media questions about last week’s reported rape of a freshman at the school.
The community has been reeling from Thursday’s arrest of two Rockville High students who are accused of raping a girl in a school bathroom.
Representatives of the county police department also might be present at the 5 p.m. press conference with Smith at the Carver Educational Services Center in Rockville, according to an MCPS spokeswoman. Following the media briefing, the high school’s parent-teacher-student association will meet at 7 p.m. with Bensen to discuss the allegations.
Smith on Sunday posted an open letter saying he was “deeply troubled” by the allegations, but couldn’t provide more details at the time because of the ongoing investigation by county police.
