Education and county government leaders are teaming up for a series of public forums on public school funding.

Montgomery County Public Schools Superintendent Jack Smith, County Council member Craig Rice and Montgomery College President DeRionne Pollard will participate in the tour, which will run from Feb. 15 to March 29.

“We will talk about how budget decisions are made and will work to explain the circumstances concerning the new budget we are addressing for the fiscal year that begins on July 1,” Rice said in a press release.

This will be the third consecutive year that officials are conducting the tour focused on the school budget process.

In December, Smith released his $2.5 billion spending proposal for MCPS, and the school board is reviewing it before handing it off to the County Council. The council has until June to adopt the county budget, which includes funding for schools.

Each of the forums will take place from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m., according to the press release announcing the tour.

Here is a schedule for the meetings:

  • Feb. 15, Northwest High School, 13501 Richter Farm Road, Germantown;
