County commuters are invited to open houses to learn more about a proposed Bus Rapid Transit system that would operate along part of MD 355.
The Maryland Transit Administration and Montgomery County Department of Transportation are partnering for the pair of meetings on Feb. 8 and 9. The informational sessions will run from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m., and attendees will have the opportunity to review and comment on station design concepts, preliminary project analysis and the course of action going forward, according to a county press release.
With the system, specialized buses would travel along dedicated lanes to offer faster service to passengers. Officials are conducting a study on providing bus rapid transit along about 21 miles of the MD 355 corridor, from the Bethesda Metro Station to Redgrove Place in Clarksburg.
The first meeting will be held at Montgomery College’s Germantown campus in the bioscience education building at 2022 Observation Drive. The second will happen in the county’s Executive Office Building, 101 Monroe St., Rockville.
Information about the project is available online.
