A seafood restaurant is coming to Rockville Town Square.

Pandora Seafood Restaurant will open in the 6,500-square-foot former American Tap Room space on Maryland Avenue, according to the Rockville retail center’s owner Federal Realty.

The restaurant is planning an early summer opening.

Partners Chris Zhu and George Cheung are behind the new restaurant. The men also co-own the Chinese restaurant China Garden in Rosslyn, which is known for its weekend dim sum service. The owners are planning “a creative twist on seafood classics in a contemporary setting,” according to the announcement.

Attempts to contact Zhu and Cheung Wednesday were not successful.

The restaurant will join a number of restaurants that have opened at the retail center in the past two years such as Peter Chang, Mellow Mushroom and Miso Café.

Little Dipper Hot Pot House, an Asian concept that offers varieties of cook-your-own simmering stew at diners’ tables, is planning on opening at 101 Gibbs St. in the next two weeks.

“Pandora Seafood is a great complement to the square and we are thrilled to welcome yet another independently owned restaurant to give diners an authentic culinary experience,” Deirdre Johnson, vice president of asset management at Federal Realty, said in a statement.

American Tap Room closed at the development in mid-December.
