Rolled Thai ice cream coming to Bethesda
Class 520 Ice Cream, the rolled Thai ice cream shop that opened in Rockville in the fall, is bringing its concept to downtown Bethesda. The new location will open on Elm Street, next to the Dunkin’ Donuts store, an employee at the Rockville location said Friday. Creation of the shop’s frozen treat involves pouring a milk-based liquid onto an extremely cold metal circle. A worker then spreads out the liquid as it freezes and rolls it into quarter-sized rolls. Customers can choose from a variety of toppings ranging from marshmallows to blueberries. The shop, which hasn't set an opening date for the Bethesda location, first announced its expansion plans on Facebook.
Metropolitan Washington Restaurant week begins
The region-wide restaurant week offers diners price-fixed menus of $22 for lunch, $22 for brunch and $35 for dinner from Monday through Sunday.

AMP by Strathmore to switch catering service to Ridgewells
The Pike & Rose concert venue has chosen the popular Bethesda-based catering company Ridgewells to handle its food operations after ending its deal with former food service partner Neighborhood Restaurant Group. The new menu at the North Bethesda venue includes crispy shrimp tempura, risotto bites, Korean-spiced BLT sliders and a Cuban Panini. Ridgewells officially takes over the food service operations in February.
Neighborhood Restaurant Group recently opened its own restaurant at Pike & Rose—the beer-focused gastropub Owen’s Ordinary.
