Montgomery County police are asking the public’s help in identifying five thieves, seen in surveillance video, who stole about $12,000 worth of clothing from the True Religion clothing store at the Westfield Montgomery mall in Bethesda.
The thieves, three men and two women, struck about 7 p.m. Jan. 5, police said in a statement. Four were carrying empty garbage bags. When they entered the store, they immediately began filling the bags with clothes, police said.
The thieves then fled the store. As one of the two women fled, she assaulted a store employee who tried to stop the thieves, police said. The five people were last seen leaving the mall through a door at a loading dock, police said.
Anyone who recognizes the thieves or has information about the crime is asked to call the 2nd District Investigative Section at 240-773-6710.
Those who wish to remain anonymous can call Crime Solvers of Montgomery County at 1-866-411-TIPS (8477). Crime Solvers will pay a reward of up to $10,000 for information that leads to an arrest.
