Maryland Rep. Andy Harris reportedly being considered for top NIH position

Harris, a Johns Hopkins-educated anesthesiologist, met with President-elect Donald Trump in New York on Wednesday and said in a statement, “I provided input to help make sure that one of the Crown Jewels of the federal government, its medical research enterprise, is in a position not only to maintain, but to accelerate its world leadership position.” The Eastern Shore Republican is the only member of Congress to have conducted research funded by the National Institutes of Health. Current NIH Director Francis Collins also met with Trump Wednesday. [Delmarva Now]
