Two adults were displaced after a fire broke out at a home on Pasture Brook Way in Rockville Tuesday night.

Montgomery County firefighters were called to the residence just off Wootton Parkway around 9 p.m. and encountered heavy fire at the two-story home, according to fire officials. Pictures from the scene showed the flames extending from the roof and engulfing the house.

Fire department spokesman Pete Piringer said no one was injured in the blaze. About 75 firefighters responded to the scene and extinguished the fire around 11 p.m.

Piringer said on his Twitter account the fire may have started from leftover fireplace ashes placed in the garage and then burned throughout the house. Neighbors called 911, he said. Investigators estimated the fire caused about $600,000 in damage to the house and the items inside, according to Piringer.
