County’s Democratic committee treasurer argues for more open process to fill vacant state Senate seats

Tim Whitehouse, treasurer of the Montgomery County Democratic Central Committee, wrote in an opinion article that having the 28-member committee select the candidate to fill an open state Senate seat may lead to the party being viewed as insular. He says Democrats should pursue a more open process, such as holding additional public forums with candidates or trying to change state law to call for a special election.
