New Americans Expo – Sunday – Silver Spring Civic Building
This annual event connects recent immigrants to resources from more than 90 government agencies, nonprofits and businesses that can help them navigate American society. The free event runs from noon to 5 p.m. at the Silver Spring Civic Building next to Veterans Plaza. Last year, more than 1,500 people attended the event.
BSO performs Beethoven and Dvorak – Saturday night – The Music Center at Strathmore, North Bethesda
The Baltimore Symphony Orchestra will be joined by pianist Angela Hewitt to perform Beethoven’s Piano Concerto No. 1. The orchestra will also perform Dvorak’s Symphony No. 8. The concert starts at 8 p.m. and tickets are $35 – $99.
Dream Discs plays Van Morrison and Bruce Springsteen – Friday night – Bethesda Blues and Jazz Supper Club
The Washington, D.C.-area cover band Dream Discs is scheduled to play Van Morrison’s Moondance album and Bruce Springsteen’s album The Wild, The Innocent & The E Street Shuffle on Friday night. The doors open at 6 and tickets are $25.
Jason Vieaux classical guitar – Saturday night – Westmoreland Congregational Church, 1 Westmoreland Circle, Bethesda
Soulful classical guitarist Jason Vieaux will perform songs from his 2015 Grammy winning album Play at the Bethesda church during a performance Saturday night. The show is part of the John E. Marlow Guitar Series that aims to showcase classical guitarists from around the world. Tickets are $44 for adults, $22 for students and younger than 18 are free.

Artist Michael Sastre’s new show features his paintings depicting the movement of illicit drugs and other contraband using clandestine airstrips in Florida. The paintings will be on display at the art center from Oct. 21 through Nov. 20.
