Frosh questions Hogan’s authority on Labor Day school order
The Maryland Attorney General’s Office believes Gov. Larry Hogan might have exceeded his authority when he issued an executive order this month requiring all public schools to start after Labor Day and finish by June 15. An opinion from the office, which is headed by Attorney General Brian Frosh of Chevy Chase, said a court reviewing the order would conclude Hogan exceeded his powers. The governor’s office dismissed the office’s opinion as political. [Baltimore Sun]

Republican Dan Cox claims the Communist Party has endorsed state Sen. Jamie Raskin in the 8th congressional district race. Raskin says he was unaware the Communist Party still existed. [Washington Post]
NIH sticking with Bethesda
The National Institutes of Health plans to consolidate several nearby locations in Bethesda after a nine-month search for alternatives in Montgomery and Prince George’s counties. [Washington Business Journal]
