Republican Gov. Larry Hogan and Democratic state Comptroller Peter Franchot will appear together Oct. 21 at a breakfast meeting sponsored by the Greater Bethesda Chamber of Commerce and Bethesda Magazine.
Louis Peck, the magazine’s political editor, will moderate the discussion on a wide range of topics, including Hogan’s recent controversial decision to shift the start date of all Maryland public schools to after Labor Day.
Despite belonging to opposing political parties, Hogan and Franchot have forged a close working relationship—and apparent fondness for each other—to the dismay of some political partisans, especially Democrats. The Washington Post published a story in August on the “bi-partisan friendship” between the two.
The school start date decision—originally pushed by Franchot—seems to have further cemented their relationship.
The event will run from 7:30 to 10 a.m. at the North Bethesda Marriott Conference Center. Tickets are $50 for members of the Greater Bethesda chamber and $75 for nonmembers.
